THE INSANE CLOTHING INTERVIEW

So for this assignment, I had to interview a small business owner.

But instead of picking someone random, I chose my friend Kellan!! The owner of The Insane Clothing. And honestly… I thought this would be perfect content for my blog!

Kellan runs a 1of1 clothing brand where everything is original. No copies, no repeats. Just them, their ideas, and whatever they feel like creating. They work out of their own space at their amazing mammas house, making clothes, art, and some bomb stickers.

And the craziest part? They do everything themselves.

Literally everything…

When I asked how many employees they had, they said “1… me.”

And that really sums it up.

They create, market, learn new skills, build their website, figure out problems, and still keep going. That’s something I really respect because it’s not easy doing everything on your own.

One thing they said that really stuck with me was that creativity is the biggest barrier.

Not money. Not connections. Creativity.

You have to make something that’s actually different and true to you. And that’s where a lot of people struggle.. especially in the beginning. It made me realize how important it is to not just follow trends, but to really create from your own ideas.

Homie also described the business as a “slow burn to a big boom.”

And yeah… that part hit. slow burn to a big boom

I like that…

Big boom

Because that’s exactly what it feels like sometimes. You’re putting in all this work, learning, creating, showing up and it doesn’t always pay off right away. The money isn’t consistent, growth can feel slow, and you really have to trust the process.

Another thing that stood out to me was their mindset.

They said to make art for yourself first.

Not for other people. Not for trends. Not for what you think will sell.

For you.

And honestly, the way they explained it stuck with me so much it felt like poetry:

make it for you first

not for them

not for what you think will sell

not for what’s a trend

for you

it’s a slow burn

before the boom

and in that time

you either stop

or you may keep it going

create something different

something real

something that doesn’t fit in a just a regular box

if it’s not you

people will feel

And I feel like that’s where the real authenticity comes from. People can tell when something is forced versus when it’s real. That’s what makes people connect to what you’re doing.

This interview felt even more personal to me because our businesses are really similar.

In a way, I look at them like a mentor. Not in a formal way, but through watching, learning, and seeing what’s possible. It shows me that what I’m working toward is real, and that I can get there too.

So it didn’t feel like I was just interviewing someone..it felt like I was talking to someone who understands exactly what this journey feels like.

The long nights, the learning curves, the moments where you question everything, and then the moments where it all makes sense again.

It reminded me that there’s no perfect path to this.

You don’t have to have everything figured out.

You just have to start, stay consistent, and stay real.

Kellan is building something that’s completely theirs. No box, no limits, just authenticity.

And that’s exactly the energy I want to keep bringing into Nie’s Closet too.

This wasn’t just an interview.

It was confirmation.

WORLDS WORST

World’s Worst — Starting 2026 Outside

❤❤❤❤❤❤

To start off 2026, Nie’s Closet headed back to my hometown, Sacramento, CA for my first vending event of the year.

This one meant a lot to me.

I went alongside my friend @in8ctive (also known as @theinsaneclothing), and this was his first ever vending booth. At the same time, it was my first one of 2026, so it felt like we were both stepping into something new together. I also had my cousin Liv and my friend Julian with me, which made the whole experience feel even more solid.

We left at 2:30 in the morning for a 10 a.m. event — about a four-hour drive. We planned to get there around 6, but ended up arriving closer to 6:30. Still, pulling into Sacramento that early, knowing what we were there to do, felt surreal.

This trip was also the first time I met Kellan in person. We had known of each other before, but this was the first time actually connecting face to face. Not long after, we were running a joint booth together. It all happened naturally, like everything aligned how it was supposed to.

Being back in my hometown, vending, building connections, and doing what I love — it reminded me why I started Nie’s Closet in the first place. It wasn’t just about selling clothes, it was about community, creativity, and creating space for myself and others.

Kellan also documented part of the experience, which makes it even more special to look back on:

This event felt like the start of something bigger.

Going into this year, I still plan to continue vending and showing up in person, but I also want to grow my online presence more. I want to be more active and more consistent, and really build Nie’s Closet beyond just events.

I’m also really excited to finally be on my last couple bins of clothing. Moving forward, I’ll be stepping more into creating pieces by me and focusing on my own work. I’m not putting a strict time limit on anything — I want to build it the right way.

Starting the year like this showed me what’s possible when I really go for it.

I’m grateful for the people around me, the connections I’m making, and everything that’s unfolding.

until next time,
nie’s closet.

Cheers To 2026

Cheers To 2026

Hey baddies! Welcome to my first blog post of 2026 — I’m so excited to finally be doing this and truly elevating Nie’s Closet this year. Cheers to 2026 and all the growth, creativity, and lovely people I’ll be working with along the way.

For those who are new here, my name is Nieyah, and I’m the owner of Nie’s Closet. I started this brand almost five months ago with a focus on sustainable clothing, fashion, and styling. I work with other creatives and groups to help elevate their style for music videos, concerts, pop-ups, or simply by vending alongside them. I’m Indigenous and Latinx, and I’m so excited for y’all to be a part of this journey with me.

If you know me, you know Nie’s Closet has been running mainly on Instagram — and I’m super excited to expand beyond that and build something even bigger this year. Alongside running my business, I’m also a full-time college student and work a full-time job, so every step forward truly means a lot to me. As a young person in this industry, I’ve been shown so much love, and I’m so excited to show y’all what I’ve got going in 2026.

Styling, Custom Pieces & What’s New

In 2026, I’ll be expanding into styling bookings, giving you the opportunity to work directly with me for personalized styling. I’ll still be reselling, but my main focus is shifting toward custom pieces and more intentional, hands-on styling work. I’m not giving too much away just yet — but trust, everything is coming together beautifully.

Events

You’ll still catch me outside at events!

I will Be at the Sacramento Worlds Worst Sunday January 11th and Nef The Pharaoh Show in Chico on the 6th of February.  All Info In my Instagram Bio!

Content & Drop Schedule

This year, I’ll be dropping blog posts every Monday at 5 PM, so read along with me as I continue to grow, learn, and build this brand in real time.

I’ll also be releasing weekly clothing drops every Saturday at 5 PM on my website. These drops will be hosted directly through my site, meaning all proceeds go straight to me, rather than a third-party platform — a huge step in supporting independent, sustainable fashion.

And lastly… Phase 1 is coming.

I won’t say too much right now, but keep an eye out for next week’s post, where I’ll be diving into that next chapter.

Thank you for being here, thank you for the love, and thank you for supporting a young, turnt baddie chasing a vision. This is only the beginning. 🤍✨
